Tell us about yourself and what you're passionate about.
Hi there! My name is Julia and I am a full-time university student. For the past four years, my pride and joy has been working on my Instagram food blog. I am passionate about providing content for my followers so that they can follow along with me on my health and wellness journey as I prioritize having a balanced lifestyle of eating well, exercising and doing things that make me happy! I love being involved in this space because it allows me to be inspired by others (all around the globe!) who have similar passions. Creating and continuously working on @myhealthymontreal is a blessing that forces me to harvest my creative side and not take myself so seriously!
What's your mantra?
Taking the words from Shakespeare, “To thine own self be true”. At the end of the day, you are the one who has to live with yourself for the rest of your life. Work to make yourself proud and do what is right for you. If you aren't proud of what you're doing, don’t do it. It’s as simple as that.
Favorite book (current or all time)?
My favorite book is “They Both Die At the End” by Adam Silvera. This book will change the way you think about life, how you spend your days, and who you choose to surround yourself with. I read it at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and I could not put it down! Since I do have quite the knack for baking, I thought it would be fitting to also mention my favorite cookbook, which is the Joyous Health Cookbook by Joy McCarthy. You can’t go wrong with her 6 ingredients Chocolate Chip Almond Butter Rice Krispy Squares, so addictive!
How do you live inspired?
I live inspired by surrounding myself with people who make me want to be a better version of myself! I surround myself with family and friends who have qualities I admire, as they help me realize who I want to be and the mark I want to leave on the world. I could not be more grateful for the bonds I have made so far in my life, both in person and through @myhealthymontreal, which have taught me so much about myself and what is important to me.
What is one tip or advice you would give our community to help them live an inspired life?
Appreciate the little things and don’t sweat the small stuff! It is so easy to be down on yourself in the face of setbacks. Instead of letting the misstep rule you, appreciate the lessons you learned from experiencing it and be grateful for what it has brought you. Additionally, I have realized that to fully live inspired, you must be able to find something you love in everything you do, to live a life you love, regardless of the adversity you may face. My suggestion would be to always find one thing that you can appreciate, be grateful for, and focus on in every situation you are faced with.
